Two-Piece Card

In need of a fun and trendy two-piece card?
Try these steps to create this beautiful card.

Card Shell
1.  Using Fiskars paper cutter, cut piece of white cardstock to 6” wide x 11” long

2.  Place paper in Fiskars paper cutter with the 11” side towards you. Using a scoring blade, score the piece at 3” and 7.5”, fold along the scoring lines.  One flap will be larger than the other; the largest flap will be the top of the card shell.

3.  Use a round edge (such as a plate, bowl or Fiskars Bow Compass) to trace a semi circle on each flap.  The Top flap circle should start 1” from top fold of card.  The bottom flap circle should start ½” from the bottom fold. This will allow the two flaps to fold over each other.

4.  After tracing both semi-circles cut with scissors along line.

5.  On the back of your patterned paper trace the two semi-circle flaps.  Cut 1/8” in from the line you just drew, this will allow the white to show through a bit on the front of your card.

6.  Once the patterned paper is cut out, glue it to the front of each flap, making sure to leave that 1/8” margin around the edge allowing the white cardstock to peek through.

7.  Using Fiskars 1” circle punch, punch 16-20 circles from mustard color cardstock.

8.  Glue the circles along the back edge of each semi-circle along both the top and bottom flap.  [Handy Tip: Use Therm O Web Zots to adhere the circles.  The circular shape of the Zots allows you to glue down the edge of the circle.]  This will create the scalloped look along the edges.  Note:  It’s helpful to look at the front of the card while you glue these into place to make sure your placement is evenly spread out and each circle sticks the same amount from the edge of the semi circle.

9.  Use scissors to trim off any excess circles that stick out from the sides of the card

10.   Cut a 12” piece of coordinating ribbon

11.   Cut one Zots adhesive circle in half, place 1/2 of the Zots on the edge of the piece of cut ribbon.  Fold this edge over on itself making a 1" tab. Repeat for the other end of the ribbon so it creates two one-inch ‘tabs’ on each end of the ribbon.  Press and hold tabs until the glue has set.

12.  Glue, again using a Zots, one ‘tab’ of ribbon to the center of the bottom flap, making sure it touches the edge of the semi-circle.

13.    Wrap the ribbon around the back of the card shell and attach the other tab to the center of the top flap this time making sure the tab hangs over the edge of the semi-circle and scalloped edge.

14.     Using a 1 ½” scalloped circle punch cut one scalloped circle from black cardstock

15.      Using a 1’ circle punch, punch one circle from the mustard colored paper.  Glue the mustard circle to the center of the black scalloped punch using a Zots for perfect coverage.

16.     Glue or stick a three-dimensional foam letter sticker to the center of the mustard circle.

17.    Using a three-dimensional foam adhesive square attach the black scalloped circle to the center of the top flap of the card shell over top of the ribbon.

Card Insert
1.  Cut a 4.25” x 5.75” piece of black cardstock.

2.  Cut a 4” x 5.5” piece of the same patterned paper used for the card shell.  Center and glue this piece to the black cardstock rectangle.

3.  Cut a 3.75” x 5.25” piece of white cardstock.  Center and glue this piece to the patterned paper.  Set this piece aside.

4.  Cut one 1 ½” scalloped circle from black cardstock.

5.  Cut one 1” circle from the mustard cardstock.  Center and flue this circle to the scalloped black circle.

6.  Glue or stick a three-dimensional foam letter sticker to the center of the mustard circle.

7.  Using a three-dimensional foam adhesive square attach the black scalloped circle to the bottom right of the layered card insert.

8.  Stamp the white part of the insert with your favorite greeting or sentiment.  I used a ‘thank you’ stamp and ochre ink from Color Box.

9.  Write a little note on the card and slip it inside the card shell and you are ready to mail!

Note:  You could use another black scalloped circle and mustard circle to create a coordinating embellishment to your envelope before mailing.
